Today, we’re sharing a lighthearted tale of a shipping mix-up that led to an unexpected twist.
A Balaclava for a Baby, Not Baklava for the Table
A few months ago, we sent out an international order with our high-quality wool balaclava hats in “Apricot” and “Coffee”—both soft and cozy colors for chilly days. Everything was packed perfectly and off it went via FedEx. But when the package hit customs, something went hilariously wrong.
The customs agent, likely hungry or just very literal, mistook “balaclava” (the snug-fitting baby hat) for “baklava” (the sweet pastry). The result? Our package was flagged as food, containing Baklava, Apricot and Coffee, which cannot be shipped across the boarder, and the package was sent back to us.
After some back-and-forth with FedEx, we got the package back, and we couldn’t help but laugh. While we love our hats, we’re pretty sure they’re not edible!
